CAPTION CALL: Free is Back!!!!!!!!
CaptionCall® is a revolutionary new telephone and service for anyone who has trouble hearing on the phone. Similar to captioned television, CaptionCall uses advanced technology and a communications assistant to quickly provide written captions of what callers say on a large, easy-to-read screen. The captioned telephone industry is regulated by the Federal Government through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The recent growth in the number of people using the service has attracted attention from the FCC and in October of 2013 they issued several new regulations that affect captioned telephone users and the way they use their phone. At the same time CaptionCall filed a Stay Request in the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, arguing the new FCC regulations violated the rights of people with hearing loss as guaranteed by the ADA. The Stay Request has been granted, for the time being has enabled us to certify appropriate patients for a CaptionCall telephone free of charge to those with hearing loss. The free offer is guaranteed to remain in effect until the case is decided by the court this summer. The outcome of the case will determine if we are able to continue offering the CaptionCall phone for free with certification to qualified individuals. If we certify you for a phone during this period you will never be required to pay for the phone regardless of the outcome during the Summer. CaptionCall is an FCC authorized captioned telephone service provider. The federal government compensates CaptionCall for providing this service. For more information contact our office.
