Every year in May the American Speech Language and Hearing Association uses this month to raise awareness regarding communication disorders. This year the theme is “Communication Across the Lifespan.” People of all ages can develop loss of hearing. We hope that people will take this time to evaluate their hearing by answering these questions in order to assess your communication abilities.
Do you think you have a hearing loss?
›Have hearing aid(s) ever been recommended for you?
› Is your hearing better in one ear?
›Have you ever had a sudden or rapid progression of hearing loss?
›Do you have ringing or noises in your ears?
›Do you consider dizziness to be a problem?
›Have you had recent drainage from your ear(s)?
›Do you have pain or discomfort in your ear(s)?
›Have you received medical consultation for any of the above conditions?
If you have answered YES to any of these questions an Audiological evaluation is recommended. This exam will fully evaluated the entire auditory system and determine if treatment is appropriate. Often hearing loss can be medically treated and others can be treated successfully with the use of hearing aids. The effects of untreated hearing loss can lead to depression, isolation and cognitive decline.
Join with us to promote better hearing by scheduling your Audiological evaluation. You can also educate others about the importance of having your hearing tested.
